Richard Comely
Artist, Writer, Comic Creator
Wednesday, August 13
1pm - 4pm
As part of the Captain Canuck 50th Anniversary Tour the creator behind Canada's beloved hero, Richard Comely, will be right here at Comic-Kazi Wednesday, August 13 from 1pm - 4pm for sketches and Free signings! Headshot sketches start at $50, and a full figure drawing starts at $120. 5 minute sketches are also available. Comic Books, prints, and other merch will be available for signing while quantities last. See more of Comely's artwork at comelyart.com
Richard Comely is a comic book artist, writer and co-creator of Captain Canuck which first published in 1975. Captain Canuck has been considered the idealistic representation of a heroic figure dedicated to Canada.
Canada’s Superhero Takes a Stand
The Canadian superhero has had a resurgence in interest, fueled by the Canada US trade war with Comely's response in his illustration of Captain Canuck pushing back on U.S. President Donald Trump's threats to make Canada the 51st state.
In honour of five decades of Captain Canuck's adventures, Comely is once again teaming up with some previous Captain Canuck collaborators – George Freeman and Claude St. Aubin – to create a special 50th-anniversary edition of the beloved comic.
Part of Captain Canuck's historic journey will soon include animated and live-action shows, which are currently being developed in partnership with Lev Gleason Studios and other production companies.
