About Comic-Kazi
Celebrating 30 Years of Comic-Kazi
It all began July 1, 1994...
30 years ago we officially opened and boy it's been an amazing journey! We are honestly blown away by all the love and support we've received from everyone to make this nerd's dream become a reality. We're super excited to be reaching this huge milestone as a family-run business. From our humble beginnings in Northland Mall back in 1994, then moving to our bigger location on Macleod Trail, and now settling into our current (and even bigger space) behind Chinook LRT Station, it's been an amazing journey and we don't plan on slowing down anytime soon It's all thanks to loyal customers like you that have made it possible through floods and the pandemic. Your support has kept us going strong. Comic-Kazi is all about our love for comic book heroes, manga and pop culture, and we're so happy to continue being a part of the growing fandom in the Calgary community. We couldn't have done it without you! Here's to many more years of fun, laughs, and celebrating being a nerd!
Involvement in the Comic Book Community
Connecting with our community and celebrating what makes comic books so special is one of our goals as a comic cook store. From hosting artist signings that spotlight local comic book talent, to throwing fan-favourite events like Trivia Night right in our store, we’re dedicated to keeping the comic culture alive and thriving.
In-Store Artist Signings
We love giving fans the chance to meet their favourite artists and dive into the world of comics, while also giving local creators a platform to shine! We're here to support these incredible artists by promoting and hosting them completely free of charge. We want to make sure they get the spotlight they deserve, so all their sales and revenue go directly to them, with no strings attached. It’s our way of helping local talent thrive and keeping the comic book community strong! Shop their art prints, limited edition variants, merchandise, and more!

Trivia Night
All are welcome to join us in a fun night of trivia and meet other fans in the community! These events are completely free to attend and hosted by fans right here in the shop, with prizes to win and fun to be had! We've hosted One Piece Trivia, and Pokémon Trade & Trivia in the past, with the next trivia event themed on everything Star Trek. We aim to create a friendly community through our trivia nights and bring fans together, sparking great conversations, and having a blast while testing our knowledge of movies, anime, tv shows, lore, and more!

For Fans, By Fans
Who better to run and operate Calgary’s favourite comic book store other than a fan himself? Proud to be open for more than 28 years, Comic-Kazi has shared the joy and passion of comic books and collecting to fans around the globe. With it’s doors opening in 1994 we are proud to be known for our friendly service and connecting with our customers.
From our humble beginnings in a small 300 ft. space in a community mall (next to the arcade), we have grown to an impressive 1330+ square ft. store, complete with an upstairs area that includes a massive collection of back-issues. Take a step into Japan’s Akihabara district with our back room completely dedicated to Manga, Gundams and Japanese import figures. We are so much more than just comics where the best of both worlds come together here at Comic-Kazi.
Now Open At Our New Location
As of July 2021
We are so thrilled to announce that Comic-Kazi has moved to a new and larger location. Our new space is just a minute walk from Chinook LRT station at 6105 Centre Street South, Calgary, AB T2H 0C5. Its the building with the blue peacock mural! We want to thank everyone for their support these many years and helping us reach this milestone! We hope you will like our new space.
Emerging Talent From Our Staff Roster
In our 30 year journey, we’re super proud to say that some of our staff have been discovered by big comic book publishers and are now making waves in the industry! They've gone from working in our shop to becoming well-known artists and getting their work published. It’s been amazing watching their talent get recognized, and we can’t wait to see who else might follow in their footsteps!
